Oscar season is upon us once again, which means it's time to check in with everyone's favorite little Best Picture cosplayers: The Storino sisters.。
Upholding a fun tradition she started in 2011, Maggie Storino prepared for the 90th Academy Awards by dressing up her young daughters — Sophia, age 7; Sadie, age 5; and Sloane, age 2 — like stars from 2018's nine most iconic films.。

"It is hard to believe that this is the eighth consecutive year our family has replicated the Academy Award nominees for Best Picture," Maggie Storino said, explaining how the tradition started off as an inside joke between her and her sister. Now, she said, recapturing these meaningful characters on film has transformed into "a minor family holiday" her girls look forward to each year.。 As was to be expected, this year's。 The Shape of Water,
which is quite literally a film about a mysterious sea creature living in water, proved to be one of the more challenging recreations the Chicago-based family tackled. But they rented their local Y.M.C.A. pool and handled it perfectly with grace, skill, and a few swimming lessons. 。Credit: Merrick Morton/Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation。Sophia (7), Sadie (5) recreating 'The Shape of Water.'Credit: Maggie Storino/DontCallMeOscar.com。 "When the stakes were high, Sophia consulted her magic eight ball about the outcome. When asked whether the sisters utilize their acting skills outside of Oscar season, Storino said the girls are constantly obsessing over movies.。
"Much like Daniel Day-Lewis, the Storino sisters are true method actors. Some days, they play pretend from sun up to sun down," she said, explaining that the family recently constructed an entire town out of cardboard boxes and。makedo 。makedo 。screws so they could reenact their favorite scenes from Disney’s。Zombies.。
As long as the girls continue having fun with it, Storino says the Best Picture tradition will stay alive. 。
