Sometimes, to make a dream come true, all you need is persistence and a life-size cardboard cutout.

Enter Toronto's Grinder Coffee. They were so keen to get Ryan Gosling to visit their cafe during the Toronto International Film Festival that they spent 10 days campaigning for it on social media.

It started with a simple cutout, and a dream:

They had some early backing from Toronto's mayor John Tory, who swung by to lend the campaign his support.

Then, at the start of September, they began their campaign in earnest.

There were billboards.

And multiple photos.

And, eventually, media coverage.

Each and every day, Grinder Coffee put out a new tweet.

Then, finally, on the 10th day of the campaign, it all paid off. Suddenly the photo was no longer just with a cutout. It was with an actual, 3D Ryan Gosling.

Following Gosling's visit, the nephew of the cafe's owner, Joelle, took to Twitter to post a thread about his aunt.

Including this important detail.

There you have it, folks: Gosling does indeed smell "really good".

And if that isn't a clear example of never giving up on your dreams, we don't know what is.
